WELCOME TO THE HOWARD UNIVERSITY MINI MEDICAL SCHOOL.

T
he Howard University School of Medicine is pleased to offer a new semester of the Howard University Mini Medical School. The Howard University Mini Medical School is designed to introduce the layman to the world of medicine and topics important to the health of the community.

Ever wonder about why being overweight affects high blood pressure and diabetes, or if there will ever be a cure for AIDS? You are cordially invited to participate in the Howard University Mini Medical School, a series of seven easy to understand and educational lectures.

The course is patterned after a medical school curriculum, but designed to open up a world of information about our bodies, our health, and cutting edge medical research that is impacting our daily lives. A different distinguished faculty member along with guest lecturers delivers the lecture each week on the campus of the Howard University School of Medicine.

Howard University Continuing Education (HUCE) is collaborating with Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM) to make available Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to all attendees who are interested and participate at an acceptable level in the courses. Howard University Continuing Education is an institutional member of the University Continuing Education Association, the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education and the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

HUCE is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is recognized as an "Authorized Provider" of CEUs by IACET. According to the IACET guidelines for providing CEUs, HUCE is required to review the course objectives to ensure that they are measurable and, to the extent possible, that the courses are designed and conducted so as to achieve their stated purposes. IACET also requires HUCE to file the titles of the courses, the bio/resume of the instructors and the evaluation results. These records are to be maintained for a minimum of seven (7)years.

This year's Mini Medical School series kicks off on Tuesday March 22, 2005 through April 26, 2005, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Each session allows ample time for questions, conversation and refreshments. Participants will receive a Mini-Medical School diploma at the end of the course in a special ceremony on April 26, 2005. In addition, those receiving continuing education units are also recognized at this ceremony. Enrollment is free but is limited to the first 200 registrants.
