Kunle Kassim, PhD.


Kunle Kassim, PhD, MPH, is Professor in the Department of Microbiology. He is head of the Pathogenic Microbiology Unit and as the Director of the Microbiology Teaching Laboratory, he is responsible for overseeing all microbiology laboratory exercises that are taught to medical, dental, pharmacy and graduate students. He teaches about bacteria and parasites that cause infectious diseases, including the mechanisms by which they cause those diseases and become resistant to conventional drugs.


Dr. Kassim’s current research interests focus on the mechanisms of growth inhibition of malaria parasites and cancer cells, as well as the neutralization of bacterial toxins by selected milk glycoproteins.
