Floyd
J. Malveaux, M.D., PH.D., is the dean of the College of Medicine,
Howard University. At Howard University he has also served as chairman
of the Department of Microbiology, Dean of the Howard University
College of Medicine, and Interim vice president and vice provost
for Health Affairs. Dr. Malveaux, a fellow of the American Academy
of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology is a nationally recognized expert
on asthma and allergic diseases, is active in numerous professional
organizations and has published and lectured extensively. Among
his research interests are: IgE receptors on mast cells and basophils,
interventions to reduce risk factors that contribute to asthma mortality
and morbidity in low socioeconomic groups, mechanisms of inflammation
in asthma, and genetics of asthma. Dr. Malveaux's research has been
supported by grants in excess of $1 million annually from the National
Institute Health, and the Centers for Disease Control, among others.
Dr. Malveaux is the recipient of numerous awards, including the
National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of
Health, and the Outstanding Faculty Research Award and Legacy of
Leadership Award from Howard University.
